In today’s rapidly evolving health care landscape, effective leadership among physicians has become more critical than ever, as Dr. Vanessa Walker points out in her President’s Message. The Physician Leadership Program, in collaboration with SSVMS, offers a comprehensive curriculum tailored to address the unique challenges and opportunities physicians face as leaders. This program equips participants with essential skills to inspire teams, navigate complex conversations, and drive organizational change — all while fostering health equity and innovation.
Through a combination of in-person and virtual sessions, this program delves into key leadership domains such as understanding leadership styles, negotiating effectively, building cohesive teams, and creating anti-racist workplaces. Guided by experienced faculty, participants will explore practical tools and frameworks to enhance their impact, whether in clinical settings or administrative roles. With up to 22.5 hours of educational training, the program emphasizes both professional and personal growth.
Designed for physicians and by physicians, this initiative recognizes the limited formal leadership training available in traditional medical education. The program’s immersive structure ensures participants leave equipped to lead with confidence, fostering collaboration and innovation in their organizations while advancing their own careers. Through this program, you can join a network of motivated colleagues dedicated to shaping the future of medicine through visionary leadership.
In-person sessions will be held February 22-23 in Northern California and March 8-9 in Southern California (the sites of the in-person sessions will be announced in the coming weeks).
